65+ Medicare Eligible Retirees – Aon Retiree Healthcare Exchange Information

Retiree Coverage Notices

Retirees who decide to enroll in supplemental medical insurance outside of the Aon Retiree Health Exchange may receive a request from the new insurance carrier to provide proof that their coverage through a group plan is ending. The carrier needs this verification to ensure the retiree is eligible for Guarantee Issue into the new supplemental medical plan. This should be a fairly small group of retirees as we are recommending that all Medicare eligible retirees/dependents enroll in their supplemental medical and prescription drug coverage through the Aon Retiree Health Exchange. However, if you get this request, here is the letter that you may provide to the retiree. This letter is also available on the USG Retiree webpage at: http://www.usg.edu/hr/benefits/retiree_benefits.

For retirees enrolling in supplemental medical insurance through the Aon Retiree Health Exchange, Aon has already notified all of the carriers on the exchange that USG retirees are eligible for Guarantee Issue and they will not need this verification.

Also, some retirees enrolled in the Consumer Choice HSA plan may be asked to provide a copy of the prescription drug coverage Credible Coverage letter they received from USG for 2015. This could be requested even if the retiree is enrolling in coverage through the Aon Retiree Health Exchange and is based on how the retiree answers questions when completing the enrollment application. A copy of the USG Credible Coverage letter can be found here and is also posted to the USG retiree webpage.

Finally, we added a Q & A site for retiree questions on the USG website available through the following link http://www.usg.edu/hr/benefits/retiree_questions_and_answers. We will be updating this tomorrow with information about the above and then weekly, with the most frequently asked questions we are receiving from retirees through the enrollment period.
